Where it's at - Recruitment Advertising Report

From www.cheezhead.com

One of the best recruiting blogs on the planet

"Where do your best candidates come from?

That’s the million-dollar question that the AIM Group, experts in online media revenue, wanted to know for their annual Recruitment Advertising 2009 survey. They asked 75 recruiters, HR professionals, managers, and recruitment agents where they are spending their limited ad budgets to find out what is and isn’t working for them."

"Recruiters in the U.S., U.K. and Canada gave social and professional networking platforms and niche job sites the highest marks for bringing in quality candidates, supporting empirical evidence that recruiters are funneling more effort into these services. According to the report, when asked to rate alternative recruiting methods, networks and niches tied with 16% of respondents saying that both were great for bringing in quality candidates. No other recruiting methods came close in the “great” ratings.

Recruiters noted the two best networks for recruitment activity are Facebook and LinkedIn, with Twitter closing in fast. This is not surprising considering that Facebook is like a giant candidate playground for recruiters, 175 million potential applicants strong, while LinkedIn picks up about one new user per second. And both, for the most part, are free."

The Job Boards go Nutty

Welcome back to everyone!

To start off with, this our inagrual blog post on the new MindField Group website.  If you have taken part in any of our previous webinars, you will know that we are all about sharing ideas, strategies and tactics.... and some tricks. ;)

The same will go for the blog... I hope to provide great, consistent content for you to improve either how you or your company recruits talent.

THE SPIKE

The Job Boards Spike HARD in January and February. Here's a screenshot from Compete.com comparing the two major Canadian job boards: Workopolis and Monster.

Ok... many of you might be saying that you aren't hiring right now.. which makes it an optimal time to build your talent community and get your employment brand in front more people, the ROI here is higher than it will be all year on your advertising spend.

What this also means is although your competitor's employees are looking for new opportunities, so are your co-workers.  From my experience, turnover typically spikes in March and April, directly correlated to the increase in the interest in job boards early in the year.  Relate it to New Years resolutions...

Here's a comparison of Gold's Gym and Curves web traffic.... hmmmm....

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!!!!

This is a great time to maximize your spend on recruitment advertising dollars and to build your talent community... or a great time to open a gym...

While your competitors are asleep at the wheel, take advantage of it, drive candidates to opt-in to your 'talent community' ideally using an Applicant Tracking System

I would recommend creating Talent Networks that are department specific if you aren't doing a ton of hiring at the moment, for example:

Marketing Talent Network
Sales Talent Network
Product Development Talent Network
Field Operations Talent Network

etc., etc....

There's a great quote that relates to this..

"I will tell you how to become rich. Be fearful when others are greedy. Be greedy when others are fearful." Warren Buffett

While others are holding off in the early part of this year from promoting their employment brand, launch a couple of campaigns and build your talent community.
